Day 2: Voeren (B) – Esch-s-Sure (LU)
Distance: 155 Kilometers
Height: 1.730 Altimeters
Interface Terminal Gent (ITG), established in 2014, is a joint venture between 2 complementary parties both active in logistics and with years of expertise in North Sea Port (Port of Ghent, Belgium). As a state of the art 4-modal container and trailer terminal, ITG takes care of the entire logistics chain of its customers since it ensures an efficient and safe interchange between road transport, rail transport, inland- and short sea shipping. Nowadays the terminal is connected by barge to the Ports of Antwerp (3 times per week) and Rotterdam (1-2 times per week), by rail 6 times per week to/from Italy, Mortara and 2 times per week from China, Chengdu. Furthermore, ITG will be connected with the UK by shortsea (3 times per week). The congestion free terminal additionally makes it a priority to realize swift truck handlings within 20’ upon terminal arrival. All this has only been possible with the support of our first customer Shuttlewise!
Den Hartogh is one of the worlds leading Logistics Service Providers (LSPs) when it comes to the safe and reliable transport of bulk liquids and gasses for the Chemical Industry. We love to support Shuttlewise’s La Grande Corsa and in particular the Richard Nomden Foundation. We are very proud to be a partner of Shuttlewise with all its initiatives and its valuable network.
The second stage is a day full of small climbs and descents. After a calm start the Baraque de Michel (600 meters) is the top of the National Parc Haute Fagnes-Eifel. After the descent in direction Malmédy we will ride a part of the famous Liege – Bastoigne – Liege classis. Luxembourg will be reached after the lunch where the fluctuations will continue. In a beautiful countryside scenery and after climbing the Lieler Oratorium the pitoresque Esch-sur-Sure will be reached.
